Guardyl Orphange Tenerife
The Orphans from the Guardyl Orphange supported by our vocational visit to Tenerife in October each year.. The Theatre School will be paying for vocational training as well as improvement in indivdual lives and living conditions.
Gillian Banks helps charity event organisers - 8th September in Scarborough’s South Bay.
The Gillian Banks Theatre School in Maltby, South Yorkshire, was the first port of call for organisers of the Scarborough GoldWing Light Parade who are planning to promote their event nationally. The annual Honda GoldWing motorcycle event is staged in Scarborough specifically to generate funds for the RNLI lifeboats which often come inland to South Yorkshire and other counties, to rescue residents from floods. So far the bikers have raised over £21,000.00 for the RNLI since 2008
Event organiser John Bates, from Carlton in Lindrick, was looking for a poster style image to promote the Honda GoldWing motorcycle exhibition and parade, so he approached Gillian Banks for assistance with his idea. Gillian kindly set up a photo-shoot with two of her dancers who dressed in red, white and blue, the chosen colour theme for this year’s charity event.
John got the idea after seeing The Showstoppers, a Gillian Banks Theatre School production at the Civic Theatre, where some of the dancers were wearing British and American costumes in red, white and blue. So with the world’s premier touring motorcycle being manufactured in America, and this the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year, a red white and blue theme was adopted for the 2012 Scarborough GoldWing Light Parade.
